Popping the bubble: a thought from Great Wolf Lodge

My nice pleasure world took a hit these past two days.

Great Wolf Lodge. Who came up with this idea anyway? An indoor water park, inside a sweet hotel with restaurants, arcade, etc., etc. Kid paradise. Mom and Dad happy the kids are so joyful. It’s watersides, wave pool and the biggest hot tub I’ve ever seen.

And yet.

This is the part where I ruin it for myself.

As I looked out over the park with all this water flowing, swirling, dumping for our fun and games, this nagging thought would not go away.

How many people in the world do not have access to clean water for drinking, cooking, living?

More than all the people using the water park, that’s for sure.

I told you I was going to ruin it for myself.

Did I enjoy the water park? Yeah. I loved it, actually.

Will I go back? Oh yeah. Can’t wait.

Will I feel guilty we have so much when others have nothing?

We have one in KS and I hope to one day visit for a day or two. I can see where you're coming from. When we're aware of the pain of others it can be harder to enjoy some things in life.

Marianne, the next time I'm in Ohio, I will make sure we meet up. I would love to meet you and your monkeys.

Our closest GWL is in the Poconos, PA., an hour away. If you go to the website, you can see all their locations.

Glad I could inspire you with my verse suggestion. I love that it's so readable, not so tiny. Good job.

Is this the Great Wolf Lodge in Ohio...Mason, Ohio?

Like, 10-min-from-my-house-Ohio?

Girl, you know I have strict policies about folks being in my zip code and not allowing me to feed them a meal. Don't tell me you broke my rule!

And my footer? Your reminder in a comment about Who's running the show.

Sorry about your homeschooling change ups - I am always in awe of you moms who homeschool. I could if I needed to: I know this. We are very blessed - and always acknowledging the blessing - that we have and can afford our good Catholic school.

Take care and let me know if you were just..down...the...road!
